Badass Poetry: Fairest

Fairest
by Julie Hintz

Hey there Ms Mirror.
What’s that you’ve got on?
A scarf is more suited for streets,
And well that shame clashes hard with you knapsack.
Those tricky strangers
With ticking tongues
Will time bomb together:
They speak with spreading tendencies.

“She’s a clumsy poet,
With ink so close by,
When her pen and curls dance
They spill stains on the sky.”

I happen to shake
Most ideas from those bends.
They’re useless
When mopped up in chestnut brown worries.
Dead hairy coils
Can’t catch more than smoke
Or the scent of cold when it’s near.

“Her eyes aren’t just saucers;
They’re wishes; they’re lies.
When the rest of her’s lonely
The rest of her cries.”

Glass girl don’t march your facts further.
Don’t blame the lovely when I’m what’s grey.
This lump in my neck’s just too tender
Too beat or fight back.
It’s too soft to be violent but;
Can be fooled into flipping.

“Her skin is like leather
Bound tight round a pearl,
And that soul in her chest
Is a windier girl.”

I don’t believe in pointing much,
Not even I’s or fingers.
My minds been prone to so much spinning,
That parts inside can crumble,
Just like this strange erosion.

If I’m an hour
Soft smells, and pebbles,
How can you call me testy?
How would my spirit breeze on by,
If she’s old
And thus
Is resting?

“Her lengthy list of faults include:
Bad ideas, bad behavior,
And a bad attitude.”

Oh please Mirror Mirror!
Don’t stop there!
Please keep up!
How I wish you’d continue attacking.
My wit’s so dull when she’s compared
To your words poured upon my wrapping.

“And that’s how it is?
Were those your words?
Is that what you mumbled?
Is that what I heard?”

I’ve never walked so calmly,
As my back to this thin doppelganger.
Don’t hold near enough doubt
Round my throat
To feel my heart strings pulling;
Someone’s got them wrapped around
His hands from miles away.
Just call us “Mr. Mrs. Kite”
As no name can cling more sweetly

My skull’s as vacant as a jungle,
If only less protected.
Busy, busy, busy,
It all stands and turns
Too green.

“Just as a friend of yours once said:
‘You’d better not think
Or you’ll force yourself dead.’”

Feel free to comment. Positive or negative.
Not negative, because if you insult Julie Hintz,
you’re the ultimate in douche-bag,
and you’ve obviously never met her.
But, feel free to post poems of the same genre.
