Random Topic Monday: Cows

Honestly, the first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word “cows” is: ADORABLE. I think cows are so cute, y’know? Just with their oddly-shaped spots, and their ears and stuff. Whatever, I could be wrong.

But then again, hearing the word: “cows”, I think about my other RTM post about Dairy Products, and feel like that was really when I was at my prime and that when people hear “Random Topic”, that is the post that they are actually thinking of. I mean, I realize that I’m awesome at talking about things milk-related, but I really do think it’s time for a change.

The thing that I absolutely love about hearing the word: “cow” is the thought of my friend, Ali. Years ago, the high school I now attend did a play called: “Into The Woods”. I took this from it’s Wikipedia page:

Inspired by Bruno Bettelheim’s 1976 book, The Uses of Enchantment, the musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales and follows them further to explore the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The main characters are taken from the stories of Little Red Ridinghood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella, tied together by a more original story involving a Baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family, most likely taken from the original story of Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm. It also includes references to several other well-known tales.

As we all know, Jack who had the beanstalk, had a cow. This cow was a role in the play I saw. This cow stole the show. She was absolutely unbelievable as a cow. She had one line that she said numerous times throughout the play. Guess what it was?

“Moo.”

Well, my dear friends, even to this day, my drama teacher always told us: “Never think that you’re part isn’t as important as anybody else’s. When Ali played the cow, you couldn’t take your eyes off of her. She stole that show.” By far, Ali as the cow taught me so much about theatre, and really, just about standing out in the crowd. Who would’ve thunk it? She had one of the least-speaking roles, and yet, in her little cow costume, with her little udder, little ears, and little spots, she stood out and took everybody’s breath away.

Ever since Ali, I have just LOVED cows.

But really, I hate what human beings DO to cows, I mean, we steal their milk from their bodies in which they could be feeding young with, and sell it for way too much money. Plus, I mean, we’ve all heard about my views on milk, but the idea that we’re stealing something from an animal like that. I just hate that. Although, it’s not really logical for me to hate that considering I love to eat steak–HEY! THAT’S ANOTHER REASON WHY I LOVE COWS.

A thank you to Megan over at SnowCoveredHills.com for this RTM post!
